Every plastic we stock is lighter than glass, and all of them are a fraction of steel — UHMW and HDPE run about an eighth the weight of steel at the same thickness. That is why plastic replaces metal in liners, guards, and panels: not because it is stronger, but because one person can carry it, hang it, and change it without a crane. Acrylic wins on appearance: 92% light transmission, a polished edge, and far better scratch resistance. Use polycarbonate where a break would hurt someone, and acrylic for displays, signage, and enclosures. We stock both and can help you choose.
