Panel nameplates, valve tags, asset labels and lockout tags, engraved in phenolic or Rowmark two ply, with adhesive backing, mounting holes, or both. Square corners, the way the spec draws them. Send a list, a photo, or a marked up schedule; every tag gets a proof before anything is cut. One tag or a few hundred, no minimum.
Any size, any wording, any of the colors on the next section. These are the ones that come through the door most, and the sizes they usually come in. Pushbutton and selector switch legend plates, terminal strip labels and control panel legends are the same job with a cutout in it; send the switch size and we cut it. Further down: which material goes with which job, and why the spec sometimes insists.
The five below are the ones most schedules land on, drawn to scale against each other. The full list of standard sizes is under the chart. Custom sizes cut just as easily and quote like the next standard size up. A schedule that sticks to one or two sizes reads as one system on the wall and costs less per tag. Colors after that; which material each color comes in is the next section.
Every Rowmark color is available beyond these eight; send the color name or the tag you are matching. Which material each of these comes in, and why, is next.
Most tags are laser engraved Rowmark two ply, because it comes in every color and cuts clean. Electrical specs, and anything that lives on hot or chemical equipment, usually call for phenolic, which we CNC engrave. Both come off the same shop floor in Sparks. Here is where each one belongs, and how each one mounts: adhesive backing, mounting holes, or both.
| Material | Thickness | Engraved | Colors | Where it belongs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rowmark LaserMax two ply | 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" | Laser or CNC | The full LaserMax range, matte finish, UV stable colors for outdoors, brushed metal looks. UL 94 HB. | Rowmark's own list: equipment ID tags, safety signage, industrial tags. Asset tags, valve tags, rack and cabinet labels, machine plates, anything matched to a color scheme |
| Rowmark LaserMax Tri-Layer | 1/16" | Laser or CNC | White / red / black, yellow / red / black, white / yellow / black, white / blue / black, green / black / white | Two colors on one tag with no paint fill: a red DANGER over black text on a white face, cut at two depths. Rowmark built it for safety signage and industrial tagging; rated for indoor and outdoor |
| Phenolic three ply | 1/16", 1/8" | CNC | Black / white / black, white / black / white, red / white / red, plus the standard warning combinations | Switchgear and panel nameplates, disconnects, transformers, motor plates: the material Division 26 identification specs name, rated for heat, oil and solvents |
| Rowmark Metalgraph Plus | 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" | Laser or CNC | Brushed stainless, bright nickel, copper and antique gold, textured metals; hardcoat that resists moisture and fingerprints. UL 94 HB. | Rowmark lists it for control panels and industrial tags. Valve tags and nameplates that need to read as metal without the cost of metal, indoors or out |
| Rowmark LaserMag magnetic | 1/32" | Laser | Silver, brass | Movable labels on steel cabinets and racks; repositions without adhesive residue |
We are a direct Rowmark distributor, so the sheet is on our rack, not on a truck, and every Rowmark line above has its own page with the full color chart and item codes. A note on outdoor tags: Rowmark rates LaserMax UV stable but flags a few foils as not recommended where UV stability is required, so we pick from the stable colors for anything that lives outside. Phenolic is stocked in the standard combinations; other colors are ordered in with a date on the quote. Getting that quote takes a spreadsheet, not a drawing. Here is how.
Most tag orders start the same way. Somebody has a description and a date. That is enough to get going. Send us whatever you already have and we turn it into cut and engrave files, then send back a PDF proof showing every tag before anything is cut. The proof is where the typo gets caught, not the panel. Reorders come off the same file. Who sends these lists, and what they put on them, is below.
Only a handful of tags? Build them on screen: pick the size and color, type the text, watch each tag draw itself to scale, and send the list from there.
The same four buyers, over and over. If yours is not here, the answer is still yes; send the list.
If a spec names the material, use that; electrical identification specs usually say laminated phenolic, and inspectors know what it looks like. If nothing names it, two ply is the better buy: more colors, cleaner laser engraving, and it is what most asset, valve and rack labels are made of. The place phenolic earns its cost is heat, oil and solvents, which is why it lives on switchgear and motors.
No. One replacement tag is a normal order. Price per tag drops with quantity because the setup is the same for one row or three hundred, and we tell you where the breaks are on the quote.
Rowmark's UV stable lines are made for outdoor signage and hold their color in the Nevada sun; we pick one of those when a tag lives outside. Phenolic is fine outdoors and indifferent to heat. Adhesive alone is the usual weak point outdoors, so exterior tags get mounting holes, or adhesive and holes both, unless you tell us otherwise.
Usually, from a photo with something for scale. Color, letter height and layout are all things we can hold to. If the original was a material we do not carry, we say so and show you the closest thing before you order.
A spreadsheet for the text, and a PDF or DXF if the tag has a drawing behind it. If all you have is a marked up panel schedule or a napkin, that works too; the proof is where it becomes exact.
