Seven clear textures on the rack: fluted, ribbed, rain, waves, stipple, Perth and Innsbruck. The light comes through and the view behind it does not. Cabinet doors, shower windows, room dividers and light panels, cut to your size the same day, one piece or a full sheet.
Every swatch below is the same printed card seen through a different sheet, so you can compare how much each texture hides. All seven are clear cell cast acrylic, about half the weight of glass, and cut on our saws in Sparks. The bars show privacy: one is shapes you can still make out, three is light and color only.
Privacy is our read of each sheet at arm’s length; the closer something sits to the sheet, the more of it shows. The drawings stand in for photos. The sheets themselves are in our Sparks shop if you want to hold one up to the light before you order.
Start with privacy, then the look. The thickness is set by the texture, so it is listed here rather than chosen.
| Texture | Privacy | Thickness | Order needs a direction | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P-30 Stipple | High | 5/32″ (.157) | No | Partitions, cabinet inserts, decorative panels |
| Perth Sculptured | High | 5/32″ (.157) | No | Shower windows, large partitions, fixtures |
| Innsbruck FFX | High | 1/4″ (.220) | No | Shower enclosures, partitions you see from both sides |
| Fluted Stripes | Medium | 5/32″ (.157) | Yes, length or width | Cabinet doors, room dividers, back bar panels |
| Rain Rippled | Medium | 5/32″ (.157) | Yes, length or width | Bath windows, door sidelights, transoms |
| Ribbed | Low | 1/8″ (.118) | Yes, length or width | Light panels, furniture, partitions, signs |
| Waves | Low | 1/4″ (.236) | No | Feature panels, display, light boxes |
All seven are clear. Thicknesses are actual, so .157″ is the sheet sold as 5/32″. Innsbruck is textured on both faces and Ribbed on one. If it matters which face is smooth on the others, ask and we will check the sheet for you.
The six jobs that come through the door most, and the texture that usually wins each one.
Which way the pattern runs. Fluted Stripes, Ribbed and Rain Rippled run one way. On the order, say whether the pattern runs along the length or across the width. Most cabinet doors want the flutes running up and down, so along the length of a tall door.
Which face goes where. On a sheet textured one side, put the smooth face on the side that gets dirty. Inside a shower that means smooth face in, where it can be squeegeed. On a cabinet door it usually means smooth face out, where hands touch it. Innsbruck is textured on both faces, so there is nothing to choose.
Where it is going. Glass in doors and next to tubs and showers falls under the safety glazing rules in the building code, and plastic glazing has its own rules there. If an inspector is involved, ask before you cut. For light fixtures, keep the sheet away from hot bulbs; acrylic softens well below the temperature of an old incandescent or halogen lamp. LEDs are fine.
Five things and we can price it. A photo of the opening with a tape measure in it works too.
Yes. Plexiglas is a brand name for acrylic sheet, and most people use the two words for the same thing. What we stock is clear cell cast acrylic with the texture formed into the surface.
P-30 Stipple, Perth Sculptured and Innsbruck FFX. Through any of the three you see light and color, not shapes. Fluted and Rain Rippled sit in the middle; Ribbed and Waves are more about the look than hiding anything.
Yes. One piece or a full sheet, cut on our saws in Sparks to within 1/16 of an inch, usually the same day.
Acrylic does not mind water and is easy to keep clean with soap and a soft cloth. Shower doors and panels next to a tub fall under the safety glazing rules in the building code, so if the job is inspected, check what your inspector will accept before you cut.
Mild soap and water with a soft cloth or a squeegee. Skip glass cleaner with ammonia, solvents and paper towels; they cloud and scratch acrylic.
Cast acrylic holds its clarity for years, indoors and out.
