How does reverse engraving work?
We engrave the artwork mirrored into the back of the sheet, then fill the engraving with acrylic paint. Viewed from the front, the graphic sits under the smooth face — protected from wear, cleaning chemicals, and picking fingers.
Why does the light-blocking layer matter?
Without it, back-lighting or strong ambient light glows through the fill and washes out the graphic. The blocker layer keeps colors dense from every angle — that's the difference between this and ordinary reverse-engravable sheet.
Can you match our exact brand color?
Yes — that's the point of back-filling. Any acrylic paint works, so we can match a PMS or paint-chip color rather than settling for the nearest stock foil.
Is this the right material for control panels?
It's the one we recommend first. Solvents, degreasers, and scrubbing hit the smooth face, not the graphic. Pair it with our laser cutting for switch and gauge cutouts.
Do you do the back-fill in-house?
Yes — engraving, fill, and finishing all happen in our Sparks shop, so one quote covers the whole part.
